This page describes the terms and conditions (“Offer Terms”) that apply to OhmConnect’s Smart Device Offer (referred to in these terms and conditions as the “Promotion”).
Some California and New York residents cannot participate in this Promotion because they are not electric service customers of PG&E, SCE, SDG&E or ConEd, even though they live in California or New York zip codes.
PLEASE READ THESE OFFER TERMS CAREFULLY AND IN FULL. THEY CONTAIN CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS ON THE PROMOTION AND INFORMATION ON WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU FAIL TO SATISFY THE OHMCONNECT REGISTRATION PROCESS AFTER RECEIVING YOUR SELECTED SMART DEVICE, INCLUDING WHEN YOU CAN BE CHARGED THE FULL MSRP PRICE OF THE SMART DEVICE PLUS APPLICABLE TAX IF YOU FAIL TO TIMELY CONNECT THE SMART DEVICE TO OHMCONNECT WITHIN THE PERIOD SPECIFIED.
OhmConnect is a free service that can help consumers decrease energy usage during periods of high demand. OhmConnect, Inc. (“OhmConnect”) has partnered with several smart device manufacturers to offer one OhmConnect is a free service that can help consumers decrease energy usage during periods of high demand. OhmConnect, Inc. (“OhmConnect”) has partnered with several manufacturers to offer (1) a free smart plug (such as an OhmPlug or TP-Link smart plug) or (2) a discounted smart thermostat (such as ecobee3 lite thermostat or Sensi smart thermostat). Promotion participants are referred to in these Terms and Conditions as “Participants.”
To receive the smart thermostat, you also must connect your smart device to OhmConnect within 30 days of delivery or you will be charged the full purchase price for your smart thermostat plus applicable sales tax.
The smart thermostat may require your agreement to other terms and conditions between you and the manufacturer or licensor of the smart thermostat.
These Offer Terms incorporate by reference the additional terms and conditions corresponding to OhmConnect’s demand response program, which can be found here:
These Offer Terms are meant to be consistent with and supplementary to the General Terms. In the event of any inconsistency or direct conflict between these Offer Terms and the Terms of Service, these Offer Terms will prevail.
Subject to availability, OhmConnect will provide each individual who satisfies the eligibility requirements between July 2, 024 at 12:01 AM Pacific Time (PT) and December 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM (PT) (the “Promotional Period”) with one of following devices:

The Promotion cannot be combined with any other OhmConnect promotions or offerings. OhmConnect reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend, modify or terminate the Promotion for any reason or for no reason. All information collected by OhmConnect in connection with the Promotion will be collected and used in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
To be eligible for the Promotion, you must satisfy all of the following conditions and steps:
To qualify for your discounted smart device, you must satisfy steps 1-6 on or before December 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time, including authorizing your utility usage data to be shared with OhmConnect and connecting the smart device to your OhmConnect account within 30 days of delivery or we will charge your credit card for the full MSRP of the smart device less the discounted amount plus sales tax already paid:
Step 1:
Set up an OhmConnect Account. Participants must become first time, fully enrolled customers of OhmConnect. Visit ohmconnect.com and create a new OhmConnect account by providing your email address, zip code, first name, phone number (optional) and creating a password. To become an OhmConnect customer, you must agree to the Terms of Service.
Step 2:
Authorize Your Utility to Share Usage Data. As part of enrolling in OhmConnect’s demand response program, as well as to be eligible for this Promotion, Participants must authorize utility usage data to be shared with OhmConnect.
Before proceeding to Step 3 (as applicable), your utility (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E or ConEd) must confirm that sharing has been authorized. Depending on your utility’s authorization process, this may take anywhere from 2 minutes to several weeks, although the average time is approximately 10 minutes.
Step 3:
Provide a Credit Card. To receive a smart device, you must furnish OhmConnect with a valid credit card and, if you select a smart thermostat, provide your authorization for us to charge your card for the discounted price of the smart thermostat you elect to receive. You must also provide your authorization for us to charge your card for the full MSRP of the smart device you select. At this step, if you selected the smart thermostat, we will charge your credit card $38.99 for the smart thermostat plus applicable sales tax, which will be calculated after you provide your shipping address in Step 4. However, if you select a smart device and you fail to connect it to your OhmConnect account within 30 days of delivery of the smart device, you will be charged the full MSRP of the device (if you selected a smart thermostat, less the $38.99 amount and sales tax already paid for the smart thermostat). Step 4 (for those choosing a smart device):
Provide Shipping Address. To receive a smart device, provide a shipping address to where the smart device will be shipped.
Step 5:
Become an Active User. You must complete a qualifying activity to become an active user before the end of the Promotional Period. A "qualifying activity" means (a) logging into your OhmConnect account, (b) purchasing an item from the OhmConnect store, (c) connecting a new device to OhmConnect's demand response program for the first time, or (d) inviting new members to join OhmConnect's demand response program.
Step 6:
Connect the smart device. If you elect to receive a smart device, you must connect it to your OhmConnect account within 30 days of delivery or we will charge your credit card for the full MSRP of the smart device delivered to you (if you selected a smart thermostat, less the discounted amount plus sales tax already paid in Step 4):
Instructions for how to install and connect to OhmConnect will be provided with the smart device.
You are solely responsible for purchasing, maintaining and using at your own expense all utility, Wi-Fi, access to the internet, communications and other equipment and devices necessary to participate in the Promotion.
Employees, officers and directors of OhmConnect, its parent, subsidiaries, and affiliated companies, advertising, promotion, and production agencies, Webmasters and Web suppliers, their immediate family members (parents, grandparents, children, siblings, and spouse of any of the foregoing) regardless of where they live and individuals residing in their same household, whether related or not, are not eligible to participate in the Promotion.
Any fraudulent, deceptive or illegal activity, including using automated, robotic methods of online participation, and tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Promotion, as determined by OhmConnect in its sole discretion, will result in disqualification from the Promotion. OhmConnect may also prosecute such persons to the full extent of the law.
From time to time, OhmConnect may change these Offer Terms. If it does so, the “Last Updated” line above will be revised. You are responsible for regularly reviewing these Offer Terms. Your continued participation in the Promotion following the posting of changes to the Offer Terms indicates your acceptance of those changes. OhmConnect also reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Promotion for any reason or for no reason.
